Why choose handmade soaps?

There are several reasons you should pick handmade soaps over mass produced soaps, both when it comes to ingredients, consciousness and esthetics. Commercial soap sold in stores is often made with chemical detergents, hardeners and synthetic lathering agents. Some of these ingredients can be drying or irritating on the skin. On the other hand, handmade soap is created with simple ingredients such as nourishing oils, liquid and lye that does not contain these harsh ingredients. Handmade soap is often more moisturizing and helps to protect your skin.

How do you make soaps?

There are different soap making methods. We use cold process and melt and pour soap making methods for our handcrafted soaps. Cold process method - Soap is the end result of a chemical reaction mixing oils, lye (sodium hydroxide) and water. The combination for the heat from the melted oils and the heat from the lye water provides all that is needed to saponify. While lye is needed to make our handcrafted soaps, no lye remains in the final bar of soap after the cure time of 4-6 weeks. Melt and pour method - We use soap bases for this method. The base has already gone through saponification, so working with lye is not required. There is no need to cure the soap-it's ready to use as soon as it's cooled and hardened,

How long will your handmade soap last?

It completely depends on your usage. The soap will last longer if not set directly in a shower stream or on a soap dish with the ability to dry between uses. For cold process soap, longer cure time improves soap life. For this purpose, one of our products include the hanging soap mesh bag, which is great not just for foaming or creating bubbles, but also perfect for you to hang dry your soap after each use.

What is the difference between essential oil and fragrance oil?

The main difference between fragrance oils and essential oils is that fragrance oils are manufactured in a lab and essential oils are made of natural materials. At the end of the day, it really comes down to personal preferences. As such, we use both in our bath products for the various benefits of each. Essential oils are aromatic, concentrated plant extracts that are obtained through steam distillation, cold pressing or resin tapping. As we cure the cold process soap for 4-6 weeks, a number of influencing factors may cause the scent from the essential oils to fade and the soaps may smell nothing at all. For this very reason, we use fragrance oil from one of Canada's leading suppliers to accommodate customers who may prefer stronger scented soaps. These oils specifically designed for use in cosmetics are perfect for adding personalized scents to lotions, creams, haircare products, soaps, candles, and body care products.

I have sensitive skins or allergies, can I use your handmade soaps?

There is no claims that handmade soaps can cure skin conditions. However, we highly recommend you try handmade soaps. All our soaps have natural beneficial oils as well as glycerin to help moisturize your skin. As with any product that touches our skin, please discontinue use if irritation develops. Any product, even when made with the most natural, gentle ingredients can be irritating to certain sensitive individuals. Please read ingredients carefully if you have allergies or sensitive skin.
